Friendly Visiting
Visit an older person (residing between East 14th and East 59th Streets) for about an hour each week. Provide companionship, shopping, errands, escort, or help with reading and writing as needed.
Medical Escorting
Accompany senior to medical appointment, wait until the visit is completed, and safely see the senior home. May assist with pick up or delivery of prescriptions.
AARP Bill Paying Program
Members of AARP can apply for an interview and training as a volunteer bill payer.
The program seeks to match trained volunteers with low or moderate income clients and assist them on a monthly basis with activities related to bill paying by check.
Meals on Heels
Prepare, package and/or deliver hot, nutritious meals on Saturday mornings to older adults residing between East 40th and East 59th Streets. The meals are prepared at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church starting at 9:30 a.m. They are packaged and artfully decorated to reflect the season or holiday, or to celebrate the individual's birthday. Volunteers then deliver the meals—usually one to three meals per volunteer—between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Our clients enjoy the volunteers' friendly greetings and the beautiful decorations as much as the high quality meals themselves.
Shopping and Escort
Shop, run errands, and/or escort older adults to stores and medical appointments as needed.
