United Neighbors of East Midtown, Inc. (UNEM), is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to helping older people through compassionate and high quality social services. Many clients live alone and need assistance to maintain independent lives in the community. UNEM, which began services in 1985, is dedicated to helping older people maintain this independence. For some men and women, we are the only caring people they can depend on and trust. A majority of our clients are over the age of 75, live alone and a growing number are over 90 years of age. Most are homebound, suffer from a chronic illness or physical disability. Our professional and dedicated staff regularly visit them in their homes. UNEM assists over 300 people in our community each year.
